MEET AMANDA SHI

Amanda Shi is a New York based actress working in film, television, and theatre. A bilingual performer fluent in English and Mandarin, she brings a sharp comic sensibility and a naturalistic ease to everything from procedurals to romcoms.

Raised between Beijing, Shanghai and DC, Amanda took an unconventional path to the screen and stage — she studied Economics at the University of Edinburgh and went on to qualify as a chartered accountant before trading spreadsheets for scripts. She trained at the Atlantic Acting School in New York City and has expanded her education with Bob Krakower, James Calleri, and various wonderful improv instructors at UCB and BCC. Her background in improv informs an instinct-driven approach that keeps her work grounded and alive in the moment.

When she's not on set or in the rehearsal room, she's navigating her newest role — mom to her daughter, Violet. In her spare time, Amanda loves hosting dinners, British crime shows, dark comedies, and long walks with her dog.

Recent credits include Meet Cute in Manhattan, available on Amazon Prime and Emirates flights, starring alongside Tony Hale in Verizon campaigns, and producing and starring in a sold out production at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
